Imagine »Star Wars« without the electrifying buzz of lightsabres. Imagine »Indiana Jones« without cracking whiplashes and it's unforgettable main theme.

Next to impossible!

A picture is worth a thousand words, but only music and sound can turn them into vivid stories that will be remembered.

This is what separates well-intentioned hobbyist productions from truly professional work. And this is why hiring me as your freelance composer and sound designer is essential.

So let me help you rock!

Case Study #1: Sound Design

Silverwing Demoreel 2010

3d artist Raphael Rau wished for a cold and gloomy atmosphere supporting the futuristic, almost aseptic imagery of his 2010 demo reel.

Most importantly he was looking for a realistic aesthetic, in which the interaction between the robotic arm and the contents on the screen always lay at the center of attention.

Problem & Solution

In 3d animation it is not possible to let the camera capture environmental ambience. Plainly and simply because in virtual reality there is none.

So every single sound had to be designed using synthesizers running in perfect sync to the picture. Although the room of the scenery had only been visually outlined, acoustically it was modelled on a real environment to get that extra sense of realism, that the client wanted.

Although this piece was composed with no particular picture at hand it evoked the idea for a Tim Burtonesque 3d short movie, soon after its first public release.

The movie, which to this day is still in production, will tell the story of an old man dying and revisiting the most impressive stages of his life, while being torn through the relentless vortex of time inside a mysterious clockwork.
